Every year the United Nations declares the period from the 25 November, International Day for the Eradication of Violence Against Women, to 10 December, International Human Rights Day, as the 16 days of No Violence against women across the globe. Gender Links (GL) and partner organisations will implement the Sixteen Days of Activism in 2015 under the banner, From Peace in the home to Peace in the world: End Violence! Empower women!

The first woman to be ordained a priest in South Africa has died, it has been announced. The Revd Canon Nancy Charton served at Grahamstown Cathedral as a lay minister and Sunday School teacher before being ordained there first as a deacon and then, in 1992, she was one of three women ordained priest by the late Bishop David Russell.
