The Association for the Prevention of Infertility and Promotion of Reproductive Health and Rights (ASPIRE) has raised alarm over what it called high rate of infertility cases among Nigerian young couples.
The association which started as a group of people who overcame the challenges of infertility due to access to quality treatment, stressed the need for partnership that will serve as a formidable force against infertility.
The Grand Ambassador of ASPIRE, Mrs Ifeoma Emekwue, stated that "We the early bird beneficiaries of this service in Nigeria, decided to come together to encourage Nigerian couples going through this unpalatable experience to move above the prevalent prejudices and seek for quality treatment of their health conditions. We seek to deploy our experience, having worn that shoe and known where it pinches, to assist couples going through the infertility challenges in Nigeria."
According to her, in its plans to reach out to couples suffering from infertility, ASPIRE decided to form a partnership with The Bridge Clinic in Lagos, Port Harcourt, Abuja, in collaboration with the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) to address infertility problems in Nigeria.
