In this section, Make Every WomanCount (MEWC) has gathered initiatives that are happening in the local, national and international level related to Women in general and particulary African Women. The announcement section includes a range of activities from individuals, Organisations such as surveys, primary research and dialogues with policy makers, petitions, conference, demonstration, opinion, Statement, Call for papers, etc..
The section aims to be a resource for all different types of opportunities to engage women in women’s rights issues.
Wellesley College in Massachusetts will host the first Women in Public Service Project Institute for two weeks, June 11-22. The pilot institute will bring together 50 emerging women leaders from across the globe between the ages of 25-45 who are already serving in different fields of public service and/or political or elected office.

'Women and Security Governance in Africa' edited by ‘Funmi Olonisakin and Awino Okech consists of a collection of African writers whose aim is to underscore and to ‘expose the fallacy of the current paradigm’ which relegates women’s issues to the back burner. The book argues that human security cannot be achieved in Africa without putting women at the centre of public policy.

The Africa Peace and Conflict Journal seeks to provide a vehicle for African scholars, and those focusing on Africa, to publish their views on issues of peace and conflict affecting the continent. The APCJ deals with peace and conflict issues from a multi-disciplinary and distinctly African perspective.history, sociology, political science, media studies, law, etc. are invited to submit papers, book reviews and briefings for publication. The APCJ will endeavor to publish articles reflecting a diversity of topics and a diversity of approaches.

The Group of African Studies will host in Madrid, Under the Tree of the Word, the 8th Iberian Congress of African Studies 14 to June 16, 2012, with a total of 48 panels. We open the call for papers from 22 November to 31 January 2012.
