It highlights the nature and scale of the epidemic, explores the concepts of gender and a gender-based approach and the ways hiv/aids and stds affect and are affected by gender. Suggestions are made for approaches and strategies to address some of the problems. It is hoped that the analysis, information, ideas and examples will help stimulate many more gender sensitive initiatives to help us cope with hiv/aids and stds more successfully.
