Source:Women Watch This online course has been developed by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) and the United Nations Development Fund for Women (UNIFEM, now part of UN Women). The four agencies created the course to raise awareness of gender issues and dynamics and to ensure that their staff achieves a consistent level of knowledge.
The course aims to contribute to a common understanding of terminology, core principles and effective approaches that help agencies work together on gender programming. Introducing a range of foundational information on gender equality and UN coherence, the objectives for this course are to strengthen gender programming knowledge and skills required for UN staff; build knowledge and skills on gender equality required for UN programme staff; identify positive entry points for strengthened programming; and gain understanding of how themes of gender equality and UN coherence mutually reinforce each other.
