Ending violence against women and girls is a top priority for UN Women, which partners with governments, UN agencies and civil society organizations worldwide to mobilize efforts to address it.
Today, UNICEF announced a new initiative calling on ordinary citizens, lawmakers and governments to combat violence against children, building on the growing outrage of recent attacks against children across the world. From the shooting of education youth activist Malala Yousafzai in Pakistan to the gang rapes in India, these attacks against girls underscore a grave human rights violation that more often than not goes unseen or underreported.
