Barely 48 hours after her consecration as Miss Beach 2013, Valery Kesse Ayem has embarked on field work. Thus on Tuesday May 14, the 19-year-old beauty queen made a stopover at the Douala based office of the Cameroon News and Publishing Corporation (SOPECAM). After a brief presentation of the different services, she was received in audience by the Littoral Regional Director, Alain Tchakounté.
The major recommendation of the discussion was for the Miss to maintain her grip on her education, which the key to every success.
Two days earlier, that is Sunday May 12, out of 20 pre-selected candidates, 19 underwent the finale of the Miss Beach competition.
Drawn from Buea, Douala, Dschang and Yaounde, they were accompanied by a mammoth crowd down the black sandy beach of Hotel Seme Beach. Compared to previous editions, this year saw the introduction of many innovations. One of such was the presentation of a matron in the person of Queen Eteme. The musician launched the event with a live performance of her latest album's lead track. Another aspect is final prize that skyrocketed from FCFA 500.000 to FCFA 1.400.000 this year. As concerns the dressing of the candidates, a newly designed patter of swimsuits in African fabrics was offered by one of the partners. After a series of parade, the potential misses presented their plans of action, if selected as winner. Among these featured the protection of the environment, promoting culture and tourism, encouraging youthful creativity, etc.
The result came in like a bomb blast. Valery Kesse Ayem, 1m65 is declared winner. She was crowned by Sonia Minkoé Moutcheu, Miss Beach 2012. She was closely followed by Mireille Madjou and Florence Ngono Onana, first and second runners up respectively.
