The women of Lassin Village in Noni Sub-division are bracing up to build a befitting hall in their traditional ruler's "Fon's" Palace.
The women form a branch of the Noni Women's Association (NWA) with Justice Mrs Grace Mabu as their matron. In earlier awareness creation and planning sessions, the women were advised to start moulding bricks,
as well as make arrangements for the excavation of stones and sand for the Palace Hall "Ngay" project to be completed by April 2013.
The Lassin women who are championing the hall "Ngay" construction project set another pace for the others to follow in Noni Sub-division by deciding to celebrate New Year 2013 in their Fon's Palace. This was an occasion to showcase their love for culture, sharing, development and demonstration of unity. They used the opportunity to convey pertinent messages with Justice Mrs Grace Mabu stressing the importance of cooperation for the development of Lassin Village. The ultimate objective, she said, was for Lassin people to once more take the lead in development issues in Noni Sub-division.
The Sub-divisional Officer for Noni, Polycarp Meh speaking during the occasion said, "The women's decision to build a 'Ngay' which can take more than 500 people is a project which I strongly support and call on all Lassin people who truly love this village and traditional authority to cooperate with the women so that the 'Ngay' should be completed before April 2013." The highly elated traditional ruler of Lassin, His Majesty Genevarius Ngew, while wishing his subjects a prosperous 2013, appealed for peace, love, unity and cooperation as they plan to build palace they can be proud of.
The event in the Lassin Fon's Palace on January 1, 2013 came on the heels of a one-day workshop organised by the Children's Reassurance Ministry, CREAM of Justice Mrs Grace Mabu. The workshop was on climate change. Its participants used the occasion to take important decisions on agriculture and traditional practices that disregard development. The Noni Women's Association and Children's Reassurance Ministry hosted a similar workshop on September 21, 2012 that brought together participants from Noni, Oku, Nkambe, Bum and Misaje Subdivisions.
