A special tournament featuring women soccer teams from various secondary schools in Dar es Salaam is in the offing.
Organised by the Tanzania Women Football Association (TWFA) in collaboration with the Tanzania Football Federation (TFF), the tournament will be part of the celebrations to mark the International Women's Day.
The event kicking off tomorrow will involve eight teams, according to the organising committee chairperson, Zainab Mbiro.
Mbiro said the teams will be in two groups of four sides each. She named the teams as Makongo, Goba, Twiga, Lord Barden, Jitegemee, Benjamin Mkapa, Kibasila and Tiravi secondary schools.The first four teams will be in Group A and the rest will comprise Group B.
The International Women's Day is annually held on March 8 to celebrate women's achievements throughout history and across nations. It is also known as the United Nations (UN) Day for Women's Rights and International Peace.
