He disclosed this when he led a delegation from the world bank on a working visit to the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development in Abuja.
He said the World Bank will support areas of women and girl-child education, maternal and child mortality and other critical health issues, economic empowerment, access to justice and involvement in decision making process.
A statement from the ministry signed by the Assistant Director, Press and Public Relations, Saghir el Muhammed said, Okunmadewa said they were in the Ministry as part of ongoing wide consultations ahead of the next round of the World Bank's country partnership programme to enable the Bank key into the Ministry's programmes and its developmental strategy.
According to Okunmadewa, the World Bank's interest in Gender Equity and development is well known especially with regards to achieving the Millennium Development Goals target 3 on Gender Equity and Women Empowerment.
Responding, Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development, Hajiya Zainab Maina said areas of interest highlighted by the World Bank for partnership with the Ministry are areas the Ministry is concentrating on in line with its mandate.
Other member of the World Bank delegation included, Caroline Sage, Senior Social Development Specialist, Markus Goldstein, Africa Region, Gender Practice Leader, Diane Zovighian, Social Development Specialist and Sabrina Koshan.
