The UN Women Executive Board will convene for this year’s First Regular Session on 14 February at the United Nations headquarters in New York.
The Vice President of the Executive Board, Ambassador Ms. Ivana Pajevic from Montenegro, will make remarks representing the newly elected President of the Executive Board, Ambassador Ms. Lana Zaki Nusseibeh from the Mission of the United Arab Emirates to the United Nations, followed by an opening statement from UN Women Executive Director Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka.
The Executive Board will be presented with the findings of an evaluation of UN Women’s regional architecture and its related management response.
Taking a closer look at the work of UN Women at country level, the Executive Board will be briefed on the UN Women operational response in Moldova. Further briefings will focus on the implementation of the cost recovery policy, the alignment of the Strategic Plan 2018-2021 with the United Nations Quadrennial Comprehensive Policy Review and UN Women’s humanitarian programming.
During lunch time, the UN Trust Fund to End Violence against Women (UN Trust Fund) will hold an informal briefing, highlighting its work towards developing the evidence base of successful approaches and best practices to end violence against women and girls through strategic investments in civil society initiatives. The event will also include a briefing of the implementation of the UN Trust Fund’s Strategic Plan 2015-2020.
On the margins of the First Regular Session 2017, UN Women will convene Member States to an informal workshop on 13 February 2017, to discuss the developing draft Strategic Plan 2018-2021, its result-based management framework and matching Integrated Budget.
