The girls were gathered from the two counties and brought to Bong County for a leadership training workshop that provided them broad knowledge on women leadership and how to govern themselves in society.
The project, which is a nationwide program, also covered issues affected girls in their respective communities and how to find permanent solutions to those problems. Other topics discussed include leadership, human rights, HIV/Aids, women empowerment, reproductive health and teenage pregnancy, amongst others.
The senior program officer of WIPSEN-Africa, Estella Anku said, the issue of teenage pregnancy is very prevalent and has become a serious challenge among girls in the various communities the program has covered.
She said the Young Girls Transformative Project goes into the communities to identify problems affecting girls through training workshops after which WINSEN-Africa select few of the beneficiaries with potentials and give the additional capacity building training to enable them return and share with their colleagues in the community.
Madam Anku noted that upon completion of the training, the girls will form a team in their respective communities to help other talented girls to achieve their dreams.
"For example, if a girl tells the team that she has a skill to become a journalist, the team will tell WIPSEN-Africa, and WIPSEN-Africa will in return help that girl get her journalistic training by talking to partners to train her, and after her training, she will be recommended to do internship to any of our partners media outlet before getting a job," she told journalists over the weekend.
She made it clear that WIPSEN does not believe in the multitude of girls for its training program, adding the little amount of girls targeted, the more efficient they will become in society.
