UNAMID in collaboration with the North Darfur Committee on Women organized today an open day session on the UN Security Council Resolution 1325 on women, peace and security in Saraf Umra, North Darfur. The purpose of the activity was to discuss the progress made in the State with regards to women's issues.

The forum, which was attended by 80 participants including Government representatives, women leaders and UNAMID officials, identified the possible impact of the resolution on daily life and key areas including protection, women's rights, participation in the peace process, training for midwives and socio-economic empowerment.

The North Darfur Advisor on Women and Children's issues, Rabiya Adam Ibrahim, said that the committee is planning to visit other localities to discuss and address challenges affecting women.

UNAMID patrols

UNAMID military conducted 143 patrols including routine, short-range, long-range, night and humanitarian escort patrols covering 93 villages and internally displaced persons (IDP) camps. UNAMID Police advisors conducted 103 patrols in villages and IDP camps.
