The Deputy Minister of Gender and Children Affairs Mustapha Bai Attila has warned that despite being pre-occupied with the fight against Ebola, the government is monitoring every act of crime.
Attila, who assured that the law would take its course against anyone found wanting, warning that gender based violence had dramatically increased within the last year.
Reacting to the case involving a minor, who was forced into marriage with a 50 year man by her parents, he disclosed that about 100 cases of gender based violence were reported last year, mostly against women and girls.
It is gathered that the girl is currently in hiding and police are searching for the perpetrators.
