The Brothers of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated proudly and resolutely joins the Ministry of Gender and Development, the Gender-Based Taskforce, and the leadership of the Republic of Liberia in the fight against sexual assault and rape perpetuated against our women and girls.

Alpha Phi Alpha counts itself among the most committed advocates for women's rights in the full tradition of greater civil rights. Now more than ever, the men of Alpha stand ready to support and protect women - the bedrock of any functional society. The men of Alpha Phi Alpha will therefore work collaboratively with like-minded institutions to eradicate the plague of gender-based violence in our neighborhoods and the broader community at large.

Individually, members of Alpha Phi Alpha have always stood at the forefront of the fight for human rights and justice. Today our brothers are re-committing to this goal and we are emphatically stating that Liberia can count on Alpha to play a major role in preventing this harmful and deeply senseless assault on our national character and our future stability.

As Alpha Phi Alpha adds its voice to ensuring the safety of women and girls, we encourage other men to join this fight against Gender-Based Violence. We believe it is our responsibility and noble obligation to set an example for other men and for boys as it relates to respecting the sanctity of womanhood as a fundamental part of being a man.

Alpha Phi Alpha is ready to partner with the Gender-Based Task Force in providing support and assistance to survivors of rape and sexual assault.
