THE story of Nancy Hamaambo in the new vision paper in monze that her uncle turned her in to a sex slave after repeated and forced sexual encounters is sad indeed.
When I heard this cruel and grievous story, I felt like my soul was about to be thawed for I deed not know that the evil in man had reached those levels.
Although they say that, extreme poverty leads to moral degradation, crime and hideousness, one may ask where is our sense the only God-given tool which distinguishes as with animals.
They are many stories of this nature happening in Zambia almost everyday, and this just shows that as a society, we are not doing much or we are not taking the right step to stop the vice.
Unfortunately, we do not realise that the challenges faced by every civilisation are not merely external, the external challenge is the reflection of something inside the human being.
Very few people realise that the real source of the problem is in the psyche of man. And we have never dealt adequately with this external challenge because we do not want to look at and deal with the internal challenges of society.
All these challenges of sexual abuse are internal challenges. So as a society, I ask for internal approach and not the external as it is now.
