Care International, Rwanda, a humanitarian organization fighting global poverty will reward Gender based Violence (GBV) activists for their efforts to eliminate the vice.
This will be part of their activities for the '16 days of Activism against gender based violence', an international campaign that takes its root from the first women's Global Leadership Institute that took place in 1991.
The campaign started last week on Friday, coinciding with the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women will end on the December 10, which is the International Human Rights Day.
The communications manager of Care International Rwanda, Jeannette Nduwamariya said that giving out cows will motivate people to join the fight against GBV.
Seventy cows will be distributed as part of the rewards.
"We believe that this will encourage other people to avoid and raise their voices against violence," Nduwamariya said, adding that other activities such as workshops for media and the legal fraternity regarding Gender Based Violence have been lined up.
Nduwamariya said that the people to be given the cows have been identified by their respective communities for their efforts in helping curb GBV.
