Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Barrister Rasaq Atunwa has condemned violence against women just as he challenged women activists to rise up and protect the right of the female folk in the country.
Atunwa, who spoke while playing host to the executive members of the Federation of Women Lawyers, Kwara State chapter, expressed displeasure over what he described as indiscriminate abuse of women.
He said the Assembly would provide the necessary legal frame work to fight abuse of women in the state. He commended the association for embarking on various humanitarian services, and pledged the readiness of the House to partner the association in its developmental programmes.
Chairperson of FIDA in Kwara State, Barrister Muinat Adeleye urged the state's House of Assembly to initiate bills that would curb violence against women, saying that would go a long in protecting the female folk. Hajia Muinat, who enumerated the achievements of FIDA in the state, urged the House to support the organization in its people oriented programmes.
