The Solidarity for African Womens Rights Coalition recently met at the Silver Springs Hotel, Nairobi to celebrate the 10th Anniversary of the AU Protocol on the Rights of Women in Africa.

The African Women's Development and Communication Network executive director Dinah Musindarwezo commended the work by SOAWR and urged them to ensure the women rights are implemented.

Chief guest, Nairobi Women's representative Rachel Shebesh paid tribute to organisations like Coalition on Violence Against Women and FIDA who made her who she is today.

"Today we are celebrating the lives of many who have selflessly given their lives fighting women rights like the late Chelagat Mutai who passed on recently," she said.

Singer Sarah Mitaru performed a number of songs that highlighted the journey of women, their challenges and triumphs since the adoption of the AU Protocol.
