Minister of Gender, Children and Social Welfare, Anitta Kalinde, says her ministry would domesticate and disseminate the outcome of the recent 57th United Nations Commission on the Status of Women (UNCSW).
The Minister disclosed this in Lilongwe Wednesday when she presided over a day long workshop where the 10-member-delegation which attended the Conference in Washington briefed stakeholders on the outcome of the Summit.
The UNCSW conference which was held in Washington from March 13 - 14 this year chronicled resolutions under the theme "Elimination and prevention of all forms of violence against women and girls".
Kalinde said the localization and even dissemination of the conference's resolutions would enable the information to trickle down to everyone in the country including those living in rural areas.
"We are going to avail the report on the 57th UNCSW conference available to all media institutions and we would like to urge the media to ensure that resolutions are disseminated in all major vernacular languages for everyone to absorb them," said Kalinde.
She then urged all stakeholders to ensure the implementation of the resolutions and that there was regular monitoring on the ground.
Kalinde, however, bemoaned absence of the local media at the March Washington Summit, saying the media's presence would make the dissemination of the information much easier and more effective.
She said the ministry had appealed to the Summit to consider accommodating the media in the budget next time for successful realization of the conference's objectives.
Among the 10 delegates who attended the Summit in Washington were representatives from the civil society, Malawi Police Service, representatives from the judiciary and many others.
