He said this while delivering lecture at the launching of a magazine/e-library by the Warafanahu Sisters under the Women Advisory Council of the group in Abuja.
Abdur-Rahman, who spoke on the topic, "The Significance of Women and Charity in Islam," said "Islam does not emphasise gender; it emphasises competence. It looks at her ability and what she can do. At no time did it Islam teaches that we should enslave women or imprison them", he said.
Chief Imam of Ansar-ud-Deen Central Mosque, Abuja, Musa Olaofe, called on women to give attention to the education and children upbringing.
Earlier, President of Warafanahu Sisters, Afusat Akinsanya, said the group is a non-governmental organisation which engages in charity and humanitarian activities to give succour to the less privileged.
