The African Union in collaboration with the United Nations Programme on AIDS will launch the Zimbabwe chapter of the Global Power Women Network Africa (GPWN) at a conference here Thursday, New Ziana reported.
GPWN is an initiative of UNAIDS which seeks to implement the aims of the Millennium Development Goal.
"The forum seeks to meet objectives which advocate for no new HIV infections and maternal and child mortality, zero tolerance to violence against women and girls, and zero acceptance of hunger and poverty," GPWN spokesperson Addelis Sibutha said.
Sibutha said delegates at the conference will deliberate on the rising maternity challenges and ways to empower women's rights.
They will also discuss issues of accountability and resource mobilisation to monitor resources used for the cause of gender equality and women empowerment.
High ranking officials from the Zimbabwe government and African Union as well as women in leadership positions across Africa are expected to attend the conference.
