Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development, Hajiya Zainab Maina, has called on women to live up to their responsibilities of grooming their daughters, supporting them to grow and encouraging them to reach their full potentials.

She gave the advice in Abuja at the event marking this year's International Women's Day. The minister said the celebration of the day brings to the fore the challenge of bringing up future mothers not only to replace them but to build strong pillars for an emerging power on earth.

Maina said she dreams that one day social exclusion and gender inequality would be confined to the pages of history and Nigerian women would become heroes of our country.
