The TEPA Senior High School has indicated that it would no longer admit girls to the school because of lack of beds and space.
The Headmaster of the school, Mr. Peter Anarfi Mensah told a meeting of the Parent Teacher Association (PTA) last week Thursday that the school planned admitting 1,000 new entrants this year, but had to stop at 600, because there are not enough beds, tables and chairs for them to use.
According to him, “Some students stand and take their meals at the dining hall”.
Mr. Anarfi Mensah stressed that the situation is so bad, but the school cannot ask parents to buy tables and chairs, since that would be explained to mean exploitation.
He said in his report that the school had managed to deal with the practice of occultism by some students through counseling.
The headmaster said the situation was under control because the students involved had completed and left the school.
At the moment, he said water is a problem in the school, while the female students also do not have any place of convenience. He assured that the government was going to build a dining hall and computer laboratory for the school.
The headmaster indicated that in spite of all these challenges, his administration would continue to give off its best to help the growth of the school and urged parents to pay school fees for their children promptly, in order to complement their efforts.
Mr. Anarfi Mensah appealed to parents not to hesitate to come to the school and find out issues agitating their minds. The Parent-Teacher Association commended the school authorities for instilling discipline and ensuring security in the school.
The parents appealed to the government to allow the school authorities to complete the fencing of the school from internally generated funds to stop people from encroaching on the school land.
According to them, fencing the school would prevent the students from running away from classes, as well as stealing of school properties.
The parents were happy to know that occultism, which was gradually gaining roots, had been eradicated by the authorities and empowered the management to deal drastically with any student found to be practicing occultism in the school.
