Johannesburg, Oct 11 (Prensa Latina) South African president, Jacob Zuma, called for greater efforts in education to combat forced marriages of many girls in the world, on ocassion of the celebration, for the first time today, of the International Day of the Girl.
The date, October 11, was chosen last November by the General Assembly of the United Nations to commemorate the anniversary from this year on. Zuma said the date must be a reference to address the problems of children in the world, who are often victims of their own families. Governments, civil society and families "should develop a decisive role" to educate girls in their rights, in order to make them aware of their own potential and their promising future". sgl/ef/hmr/ /obfModificado el ( jueves, 11 de octubre de 2012 )
