Saurimo — The governor of northeastern Lunda Sul province, Cândida Narciso, recognised Thursday in Saurimo that the farming fair shows how women can contribute to increase production and improve the country's economic capacity.
Cândida Narciso was speaking to journalists at the end of a visit to the first rural women agricultural fair closing their March-Women activity and the 1st provincial conference on women economic empowerment , held from 29-30 March, sponsored by the Government of Lunda Sul province.
"This fair has showed farming products and it was possible to see that women are engaged in farming activities aimed at increasing production and fighting hunger and poverty," she said.
On the occasion, the governor said that women need mechanised and small industry means such as tractors, milling and rice processing machines to process of corn and cassava with a view to increasing agricultural production and consequently improving family's food diet.
