The Women's Fellowship of United Evangelical Church, founded as Qua Iboe Church, Kaduna Area Conference, has said it will intensify skill acquisition training for its members as a way of strengthening and empowering them.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony of the Kaduna Area Conference and secretariat building, the president of the Women's Fellowship, Deaconess Regina Adejoh, said they provide training for women in their different churches so that they don't remain idle.
"The Women Fellowship of United Evangelical Church, Kaduna Area Conference, is ready to empower the women and we are committed to deepening it. In two weeks' time, the women will also gather here for three days to conduct skills acquisition training which is part of our empowerment programmes.
"And from time to time we gather women and train them in skill acquisition in our various churches, so that everyone will have something to do.
"Even our youths that are coming up have been empowered so that nobody will wait for the government to provide them with what to do. Right now white collar jobs are rare so it is the responsibility of the church to empower the women and youths. When a woman is empowered, the entire nation is affected. It is also the responsibility of the church to teach and train women in meaningful ventures," she said.
Mrs. Adejoh urged the women to take advantage of any training given to them and to use whatever skills they have acquired meaningfully.
Meaningful application of the skills, she said, will enable the women to be useful to themselves, their families and the society in general.
