Ms Comfort Agyemfra of Dynamic Women Organisation, an NGO, on Friday asked women to refuse dependency on their male counterparts and rather enter into self-sustaining entrepreneurship and skills training that would earn them jobs.

This, she said would enable them manage their lives and homes, adding that women should refuse to embrace poverty.
Ms Agyemfra said this at the launch of the 4th Annual National Dialogue on Women's Economic Affairs and National Women's' Fair 2014, scheduled to take place from October 13 to October 15 in Accra.

The economic dialogue is to bring women together to discuss issues concerning their economic empowerment and capacity improvement so that they would be able to take good care of their families and the society as a whole.
Ms Agyemfra said women should learn to be enterprising so that they would stand financially firm.
Mrs Magdalene Kannae, Head of Gender Centre, Institute of Local Government Studies, who launched the programme, said government is committed to advance the objective of getting women to come at par with their male counterparts in all endeavours.
She said in 2006, Cabinet approved a memo directing Ministry of Finance that budgeting should be gender sensitive.
The Ministries of Health, Education and Food and Agriculture were piloted to do gender budgeting, and serve as the implementing bodies with Ministry of Gender and Finance as coordinating bodies.
Mrs Kannae there is the need for the nation to find out whether the directive was implemented.
She said taxes should be spent in a way that both sexes are well taken care of.
Mr Nicholas Manu, Executive Member for Ghana Alliance Initiative, a civil society organisation, noted that although women do a lot of work their contribution receives little acknowledgement.
