The Dar es Salaam Commercial Bank (DCB) has set aside 8bn/- as a credit facility for 26,000 women entrepreneurs under Solidarity Group Landing (SGL) in the 2013/2014 financial year.
The DCB Senior Branch Manager, Ms Haika Machaku, told 'Daily News' that currently DCB has already issued 6.1bn/- in loans to more than 18,000 women in the group.
"I call upon women to join their colleagues and improve their businesses," said Ms Haika Machaku during World women's Day celebration.
She said the DCB has been providing loans to women from 50,000/- whereby so many women have borrowed and benefited from loans for various development initiatives.
However, she said the biggest challenge faced by many women who have taken loans was due to lack of support from their husbands.
An entrepreneur Ms Albahi Haji who is one of the beneficiaries of DCB's loans told 'Daily News' that she was now enjoying her business and her capital grew from 50,000/- to 10m/-.
