Economic Empowerment
HM King Mohammed VI inaugurated, on Wednesday in Marrakech, a women education and training center meant to enhance social stability and successful economic integration.
Carried out as part of the anti-poverty initiative (INDH) for an amount of about 3.6 million dirhams, the center mirrors the special interest of HM the King in the promotion of women's socio-economic conditions and their integration in the national development dynamic.
It will enable women and young female dropouts to have access to income-generating activities by offering them trainings in sewing, hairdressing and computer sciences. With a capacity of 130 women and young girls, the new center will also provide for the beneficiaries literacy courses and teaching training.
The new facility, built over a surface area of 1,659 square meters, is a tangible example of the INDH projects aimed at fighting poverty, exclusion and marginalization.
In fact, 511 projects were planned over the period of 2005-2013 in the prefecture of Marrakech, including 446 already carried out.
Totaling over 1.017 billion dirhams, these projects fall within the framework the INDH four programs, namely the program of fighting social exclusion in the urban area, the program of fighting poverty in the rural area, the program of fighting precariousness and the horizontal program.
One of the main projects undertaken under the INDH in the prefecture of Marrakech is the program of the generalization of access to drinking water and electricity and of connection to the liquid purification network (513 million dirhams).
Launched in 2007, the program, which targets 15 urban neighborhoods and 49 villages, allowed to increase the access rate to drinking water (98%) to electricity (99.5%) and to liquid purification (94%).
The INDH made it possible to trigger and spread the values of dignity, trust, durability, participation, and good governance, in addition to strategic planning, transparency and partnership.
