Addressing members of the Federation, the district chief, Momodou Lamin Baldeh underscoring the importance of the meeting, said it will avail members of the Federation the opportunity to highlight the achievements made by the management committee of the tractor.
He called on the women of his district to strengthen the existing cordial relationship amongst them. According to him, without unity and cooperation there won't be development. He also urged them to strengthen their unflinching support to President Jammeh, who, he described as the champion of women's empowerment.
Baldeh applauded the lady councilor, Fatou Trawally for her relentless efforts in the management of the tractor and the money generated.
For her part, the lady councilor, Fatou Trawally disclosed that they received the tractor in June 2011 and she managed to find a trailer and plough hoes for the tractor.
From June 2011 to April 2013, she reported, the tractor generated two hundred and ninety-nine thousand, one hundred and forty Dalasis, of which one hundred and nine thousand, six hundred and seventy Dalasis was spent on fuel and maintenance; forty-five thousand, seven hundred and seventy-five Dalasis on operational fees; miscellaneous expenditures, contribution and re-ploughing of President Jammeh's farm was seven thousand, six hundred and ninety-five Dalasis. She said that cash at the bank is one hundred and thirty-six thousand Dalasis and since they started the savings no withdrawal was made.
Trawally commended the management committee of the tractor for their efforts in generating such amount. She also seized the opportunity to commend President Jammeh, adding that the support provided by him has played a significant role in improving rural women's productivity, and increasing access to agricultural inputs in particular .
According to her, their aim is to buy another tractor so that it would be taken to the other ward.
