A TOTAL of 25,000 Tanzania Women Bank (TWB) customers have benefited from loans worth Tshs 33 billion since it started. Among those benefited, 82 per cent are women while 18 per cent are men.
The TWB Executive Director, Ms Margareth Chacha said in Dar es Salaam that translates to over 150,000 people who have benefited (six people per family) directly or indirectly so far from the loans. "A crucial thing here is that the loans benefit entrepreneurs and their families," she said.
She said that small entrepreneurs in the country have benefited from trainings and loans with easy conditions totalling Tshs 14 billion since the bank started offering loans. "Our bank is determined to offer best and modern banking services to all people especially focusing on women," she said.
She said that within a short period, the bank has performed well and managed to get a grean light to open a second branch in Kariakoo area in Dar es Salaam and establish loan centres in Mwanza and Dodoma regions. She called upon people in the country to seek TWB services which are of international standards, affordable and fast.
"You can send and receive money anywhere in the world within a day," she said. According to Ms. Chacha, from the time the bank was established up to December last year the bank has managed to get 30,000 customers with deposits totalling 16,200,000,000/-.
Among those 77 per cent are women while 23 per cent are men. She said the bank will continue with its resolve to bring services closer to people and improve them whenever there will be a need to do so. "We will continue to improve services and come up with new products not long from now," she said. Tanzania Women Bank started operations in July 2009.
