Senator Nenadi Usman, PDP Kaduna South, has distributed improved seeds that include soya beans, groundnuts, tomatoes, cucumber, carrots, okro and maize to various women farmers and religious groups to boost agricultural activities in the area.
Donating the items, Usman said the initiative was aimed at empowering women and acquainting them with modern farming techniques with a view to making them self reliant as already, experts from the United Kingdom-based agricultural Company (Soprey Investment Group) is to train the women on techniques involved in farming for maximum productivity.
One of the experts, Mr. Paul Kaizer, Managing Director, Choice Brand, a company based in Kagoro, which specializes in production of oil from soya beans and groundnuts, said his company would not only provide training for the women, but has establish markets for the products.
A cross section of women beneficiaries expressed gratitude over the senator's kind gesture and prayed for the success of her efforts.
