Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Ibukun Odusote, who was represented by the Director, Planning, Research and Statistics, Umar Hussaini, said during the opening ceremony at the National Agricultural Cooperative Management and Development Centre, Gwagwalada, Abuja, that the trainees would be independent beekeepers and honey processors after the training.
"I am aware that at the end of this training, each trainee will be supported with a starter pack comprising, Top Bar Hive, Trap Hive, Bellow Smoker, Bee suits and veils, Hive Tools, Boots, Hand Gloves, Swam Trap, Bee Hat, and supplementary feeds that will enable you to thrive on this enterprise of beekeeping.
"Let me assure you that any trainee that shows high level of commitment and seriousness and, more importantly, putting what he had learned into practice, will be further supported and encouraged in forming cooperative groups so that the ministry can facilitate them to own a honey processing plant," she added.
