OXFAM, an international non-governmental organisation (NGO), in collaboration with various organisations and stakeholders in Morogoro Region, has conducted courses on rights of women on land tenure and other activities.
Women at Rudewa Gongoni Village in Kimamba ward in Kilosa District were trained on legal aspects of land tenure, requirements and procedures involved in joining political offices and decision making forums.
Oxfam Advocacy Officer Zenais Matemu said women at the village were involved in debate on land tenure and their rights on Tuesday. "It is high time we do away with some unproductive and wasteful cultures which deny women the right to own land or any other property," she said.
Ms Matemu said women deserve to be treated with dignity as mothers and responsible members of families in as far as care and feeding is concerned.
