Deputy Internal Affairs Minister for Operations Rennie Jackson has lauded the Ministry of Gender & Development for empowering more women through its program.

He said the program has shown that social and economic empowerment of women can have a major impact on reducing unemployment rate in the country, and appealed to the Gender Ministry to continue the process of empowering women.
 
Minister Jackson said since the launch of the Next Level Business program at the Ministry of Gender, there have been tremendous efforts geared toward positively impacting the lives of women especially marketers.
   
The Deputy Internal Affairs Minister spoke at the 3rd graduation exercise of 70 women of the Next Level Business program for market women in Bong County.
 
Minister Jackson pointed out that the women of Bong were among the most vulnerable groups in the Liberian society who have been overlooked by many existing structures addressing women issues.   
 
However, he expressed joy that several market women from the county have been trained.
 
“By 2015 the Millennium Development Goals will be ending and the society will be counting on the women for their input in the decision making process of the country,” he said.

“Today, Bong County has the best women center in the country, and what you have learned is very important; our economy has been taken over by foreigners, so this is the time for market women to apply what they have learned,” Deputy Minister Jackson stated.
 
For his part, the Deputy Minister for Planning & Administration at the Ministry of Gender and Development, Andrew G. Tehmeh acknowledged that women have improved in terms of empowerment.
 
He said the program at the Ministry of Gender would benefit many Liberian business women.
