Members of Tanzania Women Chamber of Commerce (TWCC) meet in Dar es Salaam on Tuesday to, among other issues, discuss an agenda and preparations of this year's annual general meeting due to be held later this month.
In a statement released on Monday, TWCC said the meet will kick-start the processing of forms to members who want to contest the forthcoming elections as agreed last July at a similar meeting.
"Members will also be informed of preparations going on to mark the 50th independence anniversary celebration as being organized by Tanzania Private Sector Foundation and due to be held on 22nd day of this month with a theme termed, Women of Determination Conference," the statement added.
During the one day meeting, TWCC members will also be informed of the importance of Barcode system in certifying local products as introduced by authorities recently.
The TWCC which groups together different women professional and business associations including Tanzania Women Miners Association, Tanzania Food Processors Association and others, said it is geared at advancing interests of women entrepreneurs.
The chamber which has over 2,400 members countrywide said it's working with the government through Ministry of Trade and Industries, Small Enterprise Development Organization, Tanzania Bureau of Standards and Business Registration and Licensing Authority.
"We are also working closely with Ministry of Community Development, Gender and Children, East African Community secretariat and other institutions. Since its establishment, the chamber has assisted its members acquire entrepreneurial skills, access credit facilities, participate at trade fairs locally and abroad and enable members go on study tours abroad.
