Members of the Nyagatare Vision Cooperative and the area's Muslim women cooperative, Tuesday completed a week-long training workshop in entrepreneurship.
The training was conducted by Trends-Pro Inc, a consulting firm that deals in capacity building, research and entrepreneurial development.
The training was funded by the International Labour Organisation (ILO) in collaboration with COP Africa.
Speaking to The New Times during the closing ceremony at the Nyagatare Youth Centre,Rev. John Gatera from Trends-Cop Inc, said that over 60 members of cooperatives were trained in various disciplines.
"We offered them skills in various aspects. We trained them how to do business as well as financial management," he said.
Fatuma Mukakarara, the cooperative president, said that the training enhanced their management skills.
"Many of us received necessary knowledge from this training. We had scant knowledge of managing our cooperative but we hope that we are now well equipped," she said.
Asiah Kantarama, a member of the cooperative, said: "I was trained how I can set up a business with very little capital. With the training I have received here, I am going to work hard and improve my family's welfare".
