The major theme of the conference is democracy that delivers. CIPE believes that the institutions of democracy are key in securing and enforcing the fundamental rights of women and providing them with mechanisms for full economic, political, and civic participation. Women play a fundamentally important role in building democracies that deliver, taking charge in creating prosperous and equal societies. CIPE views this role through the prism of linkages between political and economic empowerment, where civil society organizations – especially women’s business associations – remove barriers and empower women to participate fully in society and shape their own countries.
