SOAWR members viewed their presence in Malabo, Equatorial Guinea, during the African Union Summit as an opportunity to advocate strongly for Equatorial Guinea to ratify the Protocol on the Rights of Women in Africa. The summit was held in Malabo from June 26 to July 1st under the them, "Youth Empowerment for Sustainable Development".
