Saturday 25th of October will forever remain evergreen in the lives of over 5,000 women in Lagos as they benefitted from free health services offered by the Arise Women of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, City of David, Lagos during its 6th Annual Arise Women's conference.
The women were offered free medical services such as free eye screening and distribution of eye glasses, free medical consultation and treatment, cancer screening, blood pressure and blood sugar checks, BMI, among others.
At the International conference, Wife the Lagos state Governor, Mrs. Abimbola Fashola, urged Nigerian women to speak out at all times and supports one another with a view to overcoming life challenges.
Speaking, Deputy Governor, Mrs. Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire, who commended the women's conference,entitled: "Seasons & Reasons" was specifically a women conference that promoted the need for the need for regular medical check up and spiritual development.
Orelope-Adefulire who noted that women shoulder a lot of burden and as such need spiritual and economic empowerment, praised the Nigerian woman for her strength as a mother and home maker.
"We are trying to encourage and motivate our women to attain their potential and greatness in them; indirectly, that growth and inspiration and development they will transform and give to their children at home, support they will render to their husbands and the community services they will render to their immediate environment and the service of the state and the nation."
Convener of Arise Women and wife of the Minister-in-charge of the Church, Pastor Siju Iluyomade, said their activities are geared towards promotion of preventive healthcare at the primary level.
Iluyomade noted that the theme, "Reasons and Seasons", was apt as the country is about to witness two most significant things in the next six months, Christmas and 2015 elections. "If the men don't need us, women, they need our votes. Before they get our votes they should be able to tell us what they will do."
