AIDS Accountability International (AAI) has released a report on the participation levels of women, girls and groups marginalised by sexual orientation and gender identities (SOGI) on Africa’s country coordinating mechanisms (CCMs).

There are actually two reports, both entitled “Who is Really Affecting the Global Fund Decision Making Process?” – (1) a Community Consultation Report and (2) a Quantitative Analysis of CCMs.

The reports include the results of interview and survey data from more than 90 key informants in Botswana, Malawi, Namibia, South Africa, Swaziland, Zambia and Zimbabwe, and at the Global Fund headquarters in Geneva. The key informants in-country included CCM members and other stakeholders.

For each country, the report features first-hand perspectives on the functionality of CCMs in terms of two Global Fund strategies: Gender Equality, and Sexual Orientation and Gender Identities. The report also provides a number of discussion points and recommendations for improving the meaningful participation of these marginalized groups on Africa’s CCMs.
