THE education directorate in the Kunene Region has completed an investigation into a case where a 15-year-old schoolgirl was allegedly impregnated by a teacher.
"The investigation is completed and the teacher will appear at a hearing to give him an opportunity to give his side of the story," Simon Tsuseb,
the regional director of education, told The Namibian.
Tsuseb did not reveal when the hearing would be but said it would be "soon".
Officials within the Kunene education directorate said the teacher from the Ethoshapoort Junior Secondary School at Outjo was notified of the hearing weeks ago.
Tsuseb said the investigation team questioned community members and the girl in question.
The Namibian reported last year that the girl had given birth to still-born twins at Outjo State Hospital last August.
The alleged affair between the girl and the teacher was exposed after The Namibian wrote an article about it and an investigation was subsequently ordered by the Kunene education directorate.
