No fewer than 10,000 less privileged women are to benefit from a free cervical cancer screening being organised by the wife of the Presiding Bishop of The Redeemed Evangelical Mission, TREM, Dr. Peace Okonkwo.
The free cervical cancer screening which is earmarked to coincide with her 60th birthday, will be officially unveiled through a concert scheduled to hold in June at the Expo Hall of Eko Hotel and Suits, Lagos.
Aside for the concert, the free cervical cancer screening event will begin on the 9th of June at the premises of TREM Headquarters, Anthony Oke, Gbagada Express Road, Lagos.
A statement by the family said the free screening would help in early detection and prevention of the deadly disease especially amongst the women folks.
Okonkwo who is founder of the Women of Global Impact, WGI, to bring succour to the less privileged women and children. She also coordinates activities of the International Women Prayer Conference, Rehoboth Homes And Skills Acquisition Centre, a gathering of women from all nooks and crannies irrespective of denomination..
The women under this scheme are also trained free in any vocation of their choice and for those who are still willing to go through the formal education system, they are given scholarship.
