PRESIDENT Jakaya Kikwete has appointed Ambassador Liberata Mulamula to the post of Permanent Secretary (PS) in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.
A statement released in Dar es Salaam by the Directorate of Presidential Communications, said Ms Mulamula is a Tanzanian diplomat presently serving as the Ambassador to the United States and Mexico.
The statement further noted that President Kikwete has also appointed Ambassador Hassan Simba Yahya to be the Deputy Permanent Secretary in the same Ministry. Currently, Ambassador Yahya is serving as Director of the Department of the Middle East in the Ministry.
Ambassador Mulamula before her appointment as diplomat was Senior Personal Assistant of the President of the United Republic of Tanzania from March 2012.
Before that she served as the first Executive Secretary of the International Conference of the Great Lakes Region (ICGLR), with headquarters in Bujumbura, Burundi, from 2006 to 2011.
She also served at the Tanzania High Commission to Canada and Permanent Mission to New York as Minister Plenipotentiary and Head of Chancery from 1999 to 2003 respectively before being appointed Ambassador and Director of Multilateral Cooperation in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Tanzania, the post she held up to the year 2006.
She was a part time lecturer on the 'Art of Negotiations' at the Centre for Foreign Relations in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, and participated in all the Rwandese Peace Talks, Burundi and DRC as part of the Facilitators Team.
Ambassador Mulamula is a graduate from St. John's University, New York, where she obtained her MA (Government and Politics) and University of Dar es Salaam in 1980 and 1989 respectively. Meanwhile, President Kikwete has appointed Mr Pius Msekwa as the Chancellor of the Moshi Cooperative University.
A statement issued in Dar es Salaam by the Directorate of Presidential Communications said the president also appointed Daudi Mayeji as the Director of Tanga City Council.
Before the appointment, Mayeji was the Executive Director for Kilindi District Council. The appointments are effective May, 2, this year.
