Women legislators have launched a book on the improvement of girls' welfare.
Led by Mbita MP Millie Odhiambo, the MPs and other stakeholders launched the book titled 'Beyond the Rising Tide', authored by Nelly Opiyo, at Serena Hotel, Nairobi, on Sunday night.
The book speaks about natural crises facing human beings and how girls suffer during such natural calamities.
"The issue of culture is also explored here. The girl child has remained at the same level in some communities yet others say girls have received too much attention. This is a perception we need to change because girls have not advanced as we are being told," Millie said.
She said Parliament has still not achieved the two-thirds gender rule and despite many women being in Parliament, new challenges have emerged.
