The umbrella body of women organizations in the country, the National Council for Women Societies (NCWS) has condemned the decreasing number of women in appointive positions in the country.
The protest was held yesterday at the organization's headquarters in Abuja. The women carried placards some of which read " No women female ministers, no votes, please, let our women ministers stay," and so forth. Speaking during the protest, President of the Association, Mrs. Nkechi Mba said the removal of five female ministers from the cabinet two months ago reduced the number of women in governance and now the National Assembly is calling for the sack of the Minister of Aviation Mrs. Stella Oduah while the Minister of Petroleum, Mrs. Allison Madueke is being interrogated.
Responding to a question on if women should be allowed to remain in governance even when found guilty, Mba said women who have been appointed as ministers have been doing very and women in the country have been able to establish that those in governance are not more corrupt than their male counterparts.
