Chairman of the Council of States, Gen. Hamid Adam Musa, has announced completion of all arrangements for holding the Second for Parliamentarian Women during March 18 - 19 at the Friendship Hall in Khartoum.
At a press conference he held Thursday in SUNA premises, Gen. Hamid said that the President of the Republic, Field Marshal Omer Al-Bashir, will address the opening sitting of the conference, adding that the concluding sitting of the Parliamentarian Women will be addressed by the First Vice - President of the Republic, Ali Osman Mohamed Taha.
He said that convocation of the conference aims to bolstering the relations between Sudan parliamentarian women with their counterparts in the African countries and the Arab World and creating action mechanisms between the African and Arab parliamentarian women for the sake of realizing peace and development and urging the parliamentarian women to contribute to removing the reading and writing and the technological illiteracy, combating poverty in Africa and the Arab World and reactivating the role of the parliamentarian women in realizing social change.
Meanwhile, the Chairwoman of the Parliamentarian Women in Africa and the Arab World, Widad Yagoub, has underscored the importance of the conference for boosting the solidarity culture among the African and Arab women, especially the parliamentarian women.
She said that South Sudan was invited to take part in the conference.
The deputy chairwoman of the higher committee for holding the conference said that the conference, Ablla Mahdi, said that the conference will review a number of working papers including women legislations.
She said that delegations of 16 Arab and African countries have confirmed their participation in the conference.
