In hoping to keep gender issues a priority for member States of the African Union, the years 2010-2020 have been declared as the African Women's Decade.
The African Women's Decade will elevate the visibility of women's rights and gender equality, jump start the implementation of relevant programmes in AU member states, as well as to celebrate achievements.
