The Association of Professional Engineers of Nigeria (APWEN) has requested the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) to create employment for female engineers as well as involve them in project executions. 

President of APWEN Engr. Gladys Nwosah called for the corporation's collaboration yesterday when she led her members on a courtesy visit to it Group Manager Engineering Technology Department (ETD) Engr. Adebayo Ibirogba Ibikunle in Abuja.

Engr. Nwosah said the visit was to partner the NNPC on its various activities which includes contributing to the technological development of the nation through encouragement of the professional development of her members and promoting the girl-child in taking up science or engineering as profession.

"We engage in entrepreneurship and skill acquisition in which we train as many people as possible on various skills to put them in position to contribute economically to their families and to the nation. This training is not limited to the Engineers only but will be available to the public. Some of the products include: drinking water, yoghurt, Ice Creams, cakes, confectioneries, liquid detergent, basket, hat, shoes and tailoring," she said.

Earlier, the NNPC Group Manager Engineering Technology Department, Engr. Adebayo Ibirogba Ibikunle said the corporation will partner with the group where necessary to support their objectives.
